About menu design

A menu is a sales tool that happens to list food. How it’s laid out changes what people order — what catches the eye first, where the high-margin dishes sit, how easy it is to scan when a table’s deciding. So menu design is really about structure and hierarchy: grouping dishes so they read naturally, guiding the eye to where you want it, and keeping prices clear without making them the loudest thing on the page. We design menus for restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs and takeaways across the UK — food menus, drinks lists, takeaway menus and specials — laid out to suit a kitchen’s range and a venue’s style. Every menu is supplied as print-ready files, so it looks the part on the table and you can reprint it with any printer when the dishes change.

More about menu design

Menu design for your venue

From a full food menu to a drinks list or a takeaway sheet, each kind of menu has its own job. Open the one closest to what you need to see how we approach it.

Food menus

The core menu does the most selling, so it gets the most thought — grouping dishes the way diners decide, giving signature and high-margin plates visual priority, and writing the layout so a busy table can scan it fast. For the full hospitality set — drinks, table signs and more — see our hospitality print design.

Drinks & wine lists

Drinks lists have their own rhythm — by category, by style, sometimes by price band — and they often need to feel a touch more designed than the food menu. We lay out wine, cocktail and drinks lists so they’re easy to navigate and tempting to order from, matched to your main menu’s look.

Takeaway menus

A takeaway menu has to work hard on a counter, through a letterbox or on a delivery bag — dense with options but still scannable, with clear prices and an easy ordering path. We design takeaway menus that pack the full offer in without becoming a wall of text.

Specials & seasonal

Specials, seasonal and event menus change often, so they’re designed to slot alongside your main menu and be quick to update. We build them to match your core look so a daily special or a Christmas menu feels part of the same venue, not a printout taped to the table.

Menu Design FAQs

What kinds of menus can you design?

Food menus, drinks and wine lists, cocktail menus, takeaway menus, breakfast and brunch menus, set and tasting menus, kids’ menus, and daily specials inserts. For restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs and takeaways.

What formats do you design menus in?

Single sheet (A4/A5), folded, or multi-page, plus drinks lists, takeaway sheets and specials inserts. We’ll advise the format that suits your offer and how often you change dishes.

Will the final menu be ready for print?

Yes. You receive print-ready CMYK PDFs at 300dpi with proper bleed and safe-area, ready for any printer. Your files stay in your portal so you can reprint whenever the menu changes.

What affects the price of menu design?

Mainly the size and number of sides/pages, plus any extras in the configurator — additional menu versions, dietary icon placement, or an editable source file. The price updates live as you choose options.

Can you add allergen and dietary icons?

Yes — add the dietary icon placement option and we’ll position clear, consistent markers across the menu. You provide the dish information from your kitchen (you know your recipes); we present it clearly and legibly.

Can you match my drinks list to my food menu?

Yes. Add extra versions and we’ll design a coordinated set — food menu, drinks list, specials — that share a look so your venue feels consistent across every printed piece.

My menu changes often — can I update it easily?

Yes. Your files stay in your portal to re-download and reprint. If you change dishes or prices regularly, the editable/source file option lets you make small updates yourself, or send changes back to us as a revision.

What file types do I receive?

A print-ready CMYK PDF at 300dpi as standard. Add the editable/source file option in the configurator if you’d like the working file for your own small updates.

Do you print the menus?

No — we design the artwork and supply print-ready files. You’re free to use any printer you like, which keeps you in control of stock, finish and cost — handy when you reprint menus often. Your files stay in your portal.
